Community involvement and financial support are essential to our SMART program. We are partially supported by the United Way of Manatee County. The rest of our support comes from the tax deductible donations and gifts from private individuals and groups, fund raising events, and program fees.

SMART is a participating charity in the Suncoast CFC 2011 campaign.
Federal employees can support SMART through the Combined Federal Campaign. SMART's ID # is: 85832

Our funds are used to cover a wide range of operating costs including the care and maintenance of our horses, insurance, purchase and maintenance of equipment, and supplies and veterinary/farrier care.

Thank you Lakewood Ranch Women's Club for your continued support of our SMART Riders! The wonderful women of LWRWC presented SMART with a check for $7000 this year. They continue to be one of our staunchest supporters and truly make a difference in our program and in the lives of our kids with special needs. THANK YOU Lakewood Ranch Women's Club!

Thanks go to the Rotary Club of Lakewood Ranch for their grant of $3500 for the building of our new Sensory Trail! The Sensory Trail is filled with all kinds of fun and interesting obstacles that challenge our SMART Riders in many ways. It is awesome! Thank you to Manatee Memorial Hospital Foundation/Auxiliary for a grant for $1600 for the Scholarship Fund. The MMH Volunteers raise funds from the Thrift Shop they run located at 4517 Manatee Avenue West in Bradenton! They take in donations of gently used treasures from local residents, clean and repair them, and then place them for sale in their store. And all of the profits go toward supporting worthy organizations like SMART. What a wonderful thing! Let’s show our support for them, as they have shown us, and make sure that our own gently used treasures find their way to their Thrift Shop. 941-745-2047. The Knights of Columbus, Mother Cabrini Council 12155 have been long time supporters of our SMART Riders. Chancellor Lyle Kobus presented a check to SMART for $600 at their meeting in May. Thanks for caring about our SMART Riders!

Ken Cronin, one of our veterans, accepts a donation of $1600 for SMART's Horses for Heroes program from Kim Evans of the Dixie Paint Horse Club. The DPHC made SMART their charity of choice and did an outstanding job raising these funds for scholarships for veterans in our H4H program. We are so happy to have their support of our veterans! SMART has a SMART truck, at last! Thanks to the very generous grants from the Puelicher Foundation and the Goldstein Foundation, we no longer have to borrow wheels from our volunteers AND we can show up at events, horseshows, camps and fundraisers in safety, class and style!
